What happens once I register?
You’ll receive a follow up email within one business day. The email has a questionnaire so that I can get information to properly assign your plan. You will also receive a runDisney specific packing list PDF, plus some follow-up info on next steps (private FB group, Training Peaks, etc.) in that email as well.
How am I assigned a plan?
Your plan is determined primarily by 1) event(s) registered for, 2) your current running experience/fitness level. Other considerations are the time available to train, and if you have specific goals for the event(s)
Please allow 48 hours to assign your plan (although should be quicker!).
What are the available plans?
Beginner and intermediate plans for 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, plus one plan for Fairy Tale Challenge.
Note, ALL plans are 12 weeks with exception of HM/FTC, which are 16 weeks.
Additionally, optional six week ‘base building’ plans are available for 5K/10K at beginner and intermediate level.
I am a run/walk athlete, or that’s how I plan to train. Will this program work for me?
Absolutely! I am currently working with run/walk athletes. Each plan has an optional run/walk progression if you want to progress to a different run/walk interval.
Alternatively, a set run/walk interval can be determined and assigned for the duration of your training.
What kind of changes will you make to my plan?
Overall, the plans are static. It is possible I may adjust the overall plan to better fit the days you plan to run.
How will we communicate?
Two ways primarily. First, via Voxer, and secondly (if you opt in to use Training Peaks), you can add comments after your run workout in Training Peaks.
I ask that more urgent issues/concerns be sent via Voxer as I receive notifications when a message is sent.
Is it okay to do my runs on different days than is assigned in Training Peaks? Do I have to follow the plan exactly?
I know that schedules vary, and we all have very busy lives. The key is to try to be close to the frequency and miles assigned (as best as possible). You don’t have to run on the assigned days in TP.
Do I have to use the Training Peaks app, or can I just follow the ‘written’ plan provided via PDF?
You absolutely don’t need to use Training Peaks. It’s just an easy way to communicate between me and athletes, and you get daily emails with your scheduled workout. TP also syncs with most apps and devices (ie: Garmin and Apple Watch).
Are the FB live discussions mandatory? How often will they occur?
Of course not, it is simply a way to build community, encourage and inspire each other, and discuss relevant running and runDisney topics.
Regarding frequency, most likely every two weeks!
Am I required to join the private Facebook group?
Nope! Completely optional.
Where will the meet-up be, and when during PHM?
The meet-up will occur on Sunday, February 27th. Location is still TBD! A pre-run meet up prior to the half marathon on Sunday will also be available, for those running the HM.
