One of the best perks of a RunDisney race is the photo opportunities. Therefore, you need runDisney race photos tips to capture your wonderful memories. I’ve listed seven quick tips below to ensure that happens. Personally, I rarely stopped for photos until I ran a runDisney race, and it was a game changer for me (click here to find out more on that topic).

RunDisney Race Photo #101

- GAME FACE ON! Ensure your bib is straight/visible (on your “front”), pick a running “outfit” you like, and have a big smile (and keep smiling as you pass photographers). Remember good posture (shoulders back, stand tall) and lengthen your stride as you breeze by that photographer. Try to make eye contact with photographer, and give a thumb’s up, raise your arms, etc.
- DISNEY PhotoPass 101. Watch for the Disney PhotoPass green tents on the course. PhotoPass photographers wear bright green hats as well on the runDisney race course. They are located at Character Experience locations, near park icons, the reunion lot before the race, and other notable locations along the course.
If you are an annual pass holder, RunDisney race photos are included! The back of your race bib provides instruction on how to link the photos. If you’re not an “AP” holder, you can purchase Memory Maker to capture all of your trips’ photos. Typically, you save $30 if you purchase Memory Maker in advance. - PHONE ON THE READY: battery fully charged, on low power mode setting, apps closed out, and wifi off. This better ensures your phone battery lasts through your race event. Another option: bring a battery as back-up. Have your phone ready for the character experience stops, as a cast member will take a picture with your camera/phone, too.
- THERE’S MORE THAN CHARACTER PHOTOS. The character experience photos ARE awesome, but there are other great options, where you often don’t have to wait. Some fantastic photo op’s: Cinderella’s castle, multitude of cool statues/props along the course, RunDisney mile markers, the Boardwalk, Spaceship Earth in Epcot, the crowds cheering, and their hilarious signs!

- PACE YOURSELF with pictures; have a plan. Consider which characters/photos are a must, and which you can skip for another time. “Higher” corral placements allow more buffer given the “balloon ladies” start in the last corral, and pace at a 16 minute/mile pace. As you hopefully know, you must stay in front of the balloon ladies!
If running with a group, when getting in line, have phone ready, and just take one group photo and move on. For action/running photos, try to stagger a bit so that all (or majority) of you can be captured. Remember, you need to have a “pocket” around you for best results (ie: slow down to allow more space between you and the runners in front of you. - HAM IT UP! Play along with characters along the runDisney race course. Be goofy with Goofy, smitten with Gaston, silly with Dopey, proper with Mary Poppins; you get the picture. Jump photos are fun, too; great locations for that are at Cinderella’s castle, and Spaceship Earth at Epcot.
- FINISH LINE PHOTO. You’ve reached the end of your runDisney race – the finish line! That is one important photo! Big smile, arms up or thumbs up, if possible. As approaching the finish line, be sure there is a “pocket” around you so that you don’t have someone blocking you as you cross the finish. Very important: make sure you are not looking at your watch!
